BEHIND THE SCENE - COMPOSITE IMAGE

Digital manipulation of images has become such a serious topic that the authenticity of every picture — and the integrity of the photographer — is always questioned.

It’s our responsibility as photographers nowadays to clearly caption every image and indicate any composite or alteration. As long as you’re transparent and honest with what you do with your images, digital manipulation can be a great, creative and wonderful form of art.

This image is a composite of three shots of the same polar bear cub, taken in sequence during my recent trip to Wapusk National Park in Manitoba, Canada.
